Global warming allows oil and mining companies to tap into previously inaccessible new reserves of the Arctic region. All Arctic nations still have a major disagreements over the ownership of the parts of the continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean that can be used for mining. Moreover, while fighting about the areas, they often tend to forget about the overwhelming consequences these actions may have on the environment and also the voice of indigenous communities is not being heard.
